Ottoman Refresh DIY

One project hat I have been meaning to redo for a while are a pair of bright coral ottomans that I bought a few years back. I got them for a good deal and used them at the end of my bed for a while, but they have been sitting in my guest bedroom for a while, covered in a throw blanket. The bright color isn’t really in style anymore and definitely don’t work in my home anymore.

I wanted to reupholster them, but because the cris-cross legs are also fabric covered, it wasn’t as easy as just covering it with new fabric. One day, I was playing around with how I could cover them and realized it would pretty easy to remove the legs and just replace them!

It’s starting to look like we’ll still be hanging out at home for most of the spring, so I wanted to gather some fun craft ideas that you might actually really like. I really try to avoid Pinterest fails, since I’ve spent a lot of time and money in the past trying to DIY something that I should’ve just bought.

These DIYs are great for yourself or to make as a gift for someone special. Now is a great time to show appreciation for the people in your life. Most of these would cost you $20 or less to make as well!

Hallway Mini Makeover

After scraping off the popcorn texture on the ceilings in my house, I’ve had a few locations where the paint started to randomly chip off. It seems like the plaster ceilings were never sanded down properly, so the old layers of paint start to come undone over time. We’ve found a solution that we need to chip all the loose paint, sand, and then use a high adhesion primer before skimming the spots and then repainting. (Easier said than done!). The good news is that it is a pretty quick project and the ceilings look perfect afterwards.

My Biggest Home Remodel Regrets

I have shared a lot of my remodel projects on this blog– from putting salvaged vintage hardwood flooring in my living room, to remodeling my kitchen, to building my own bathroom vanity. I always talk about my projects and the things I love about them, but I have never really talked about them afterwards. I’ve been reflecting on a few of the things that I wish I would have done differently, and thought I would share for you to learn from my mistakes!

Pretty Bathroom Storage Ideas

After my recent bathroom remodel, I wanted to overhaul the storage in the room as well. By removing my old medicine cabinet and updating the vanity, I lost a little bit of storage space. In my new room, I not only had to be smarter with how I stored all of my essentials, I also wanted it to look great!

The first step was to really clean out what I was storing in my bathroom. I got rid of a ton of old products that I was never going to use. I saw the term “shampoo graveyard” somewhere, and now I always think of this term when deciding what I should keep in my bathroom. Minimizing the clutter meant I actually had way less stuff to store than I thought.

The next step was finding the right storage solutions that were easy to use, but still looked nice. I did a lot of hunting through the bathroom, storage, and kitchen departments to find just the right items.

Bathroom Remodel Reveal

After what seems like years in the making, I am finally done with my bathroom remodel! The remodel included demoing the old medicine cabinet and vanity, repairing and repainting walls, tiling the floor, and building a new custom vanity.
