I really try to avoid Pinterest fails, since I’ve spent a lot of time and money in the past trying to DIY something that I should’ve just bought.

These DIYs are great for yourself or to make as a gift for someone special. Now is a great time to show appreciation for the people in your life. Most of these would cost you $20 or less to make as well!

If you’ve followed my blog for a while, you’ll know I try really hard to eat a healthy and balanced diet. I personally feel better when I eat better, and like to fuel my body with nutrient rich food. I also believe in intuitive eating– I try not to spend a lot of time focused on food or food guilt. I’ve found that being consistent with incorporating healthy food into your diet is more sustainable long term than “diets” or restrictions.

I’m also admittedly not the greatest cook, so I like to keep my meals pretty simple and quick to make. My grocery list is really consistent from week to week– I even joke that I should set up a reoccurring order. Hungry Root Grocery Service Review

As you’ve probably gathered, I’m always on the hunt for meal services that make cooking easier. I’ve tried just about everything, and feel a little like Goldie Locks and the Three Bears– some aren’t healthy enough, some are too complicated, some are TOO healthy and don’t taste good.

The last service I tried was Splendid Spoon. The meals were good at first, but they were pretty bland. After my second shipment, most of them ended up in the freezer where they sit today, and I ended up cancelling.

After realizing that I really needed to start eating healthier and having more variety in my meals, an ad for Hungry Root popped up on my Instagram feed. I’m always curious about these kinds of things and I love when they have a discount for your first order, so its not a huge commitment to try.

How To Meal Prep with Hello Fresh

A few weeks ago, I shared my review of hello fresh meal service. The service fit pretty well with my lifestyle and (lack of) cooking abilities, and I have continued the subscription. Right now, I have been doing every-other week deliveries of 2 meals. Because the servings are so large, I end up with 4 dinners from each meal, so it usually lasts me about 2 weeks of work night meals.

If I don’t love what the options are for a week, I just skip that week and wait until the next. It’s really nice to be able to skip whenever you want without being charged! I have also found that the ingredients last until the next week in the fridge, so if I don’t use a meal one week, its fine the next!

I’ve also begun “prepping” the meals on Sunday nights, so that they are ready to go for dinners during the week. Between work and marathon training, I like to make dinners as quick as possible to prepare since I don’t have an hour to cook every night. I’ve been preparing the hello fresh meals ahead of time, and found a few tips and tricks to keep them fresh for the week ahead!
