Happy Superbowl week! Although I am still entirely bitter that my Minnesota Vikings did not make the Superbowl this year (again), but we are hosting the Superbowl this year which is exciting. If any of you are lucky enough to go to the Superbowl or are just visiting, I thought I would make a little Minneapolis tips guide to help you with your visit.

- The quickest way to get around Minneapolis is by the light rail train. You can purchase tickets at the station, and it drops off right in front of US Bank Stadium. It also goes to the airport and Mall of America.
- The other great thing about Minneapolis is the indoor skyway system. The skyways attach most of the buildings downtown above the street level. You can access most of downtown through the skyway system without having to step outside. They are pretty confusing if you don’t know your way around, so I recommend keeping a map handy, and looking at the signs to understand what building you are currently in, and what building you are going to.
- Most of the superbowl events, restaurants, and shopping are about a mile away from the stadium, so plan according!
- US Bank Stadium is heated (thank goodness!) so you can dress according. It is also accessible via the skyway system, but it does get really congested on game days, so it may be a good idea to still bring a jacket in case you need to step outside. Don’t forget the NFL policy of no bags in the stadium.
- There are a lot of fun events (both that you need to purchase tickets for but also lots of free events). I found the official guide here! Target is also hosting a free lounge that we got to preview this week. It includes free snacks and activities and a cozy place to warm up! I’ve also heard that there is going to be an outdoor figure skating rink on Nicollet Mall which is on my to-do list.
- Some of the best sights are around the stadium, including the Stone Arch Bridge, where you will get the best views of the city.
- My favorite eating spots are Key’s Cafe in the Foshay Tower for breakfast, Hell’s Kitchen for Brunch, The Local for lunch and casual dining, and Zelo’s for dinner. Another fun spot is Union which has heated rooftop seating. Be sure to make reservations ahead of time since they could be busy this week.
- I’m probably stating the obvious but it gets a little cold here. Dress in a lot of layers if you plan to be outside and you will be fine!
